Ed Reavy Trad Music Fest

Enjoy the best of Irish Traditional Music at the Ed Reavy Festival in Cavan

Date: 19th - 21st October 2018 

Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann Cavan Town Branch present a festival celebrating the music of Ed Reavy, renowned Irish - American musican and composer of traditional Irish dance tunes.

Born in Barnagrove, Cootehill, County Cavan, Ed emigrated to Philedelphia in 1912 where he lived for the rest of his life. An outstanding fiddler, he recorded in 1927 for the Victor record label and his many compositions are widely played and include such favourites as Maudabawn Chapel, The Lone Bush, The Hunter's House and the Cuilcagh Mountains.

Festival highlights include: 

  • A special concert with GARADICE (Eleanor Shanley, Padraig McGovern, Dave Sheridan and John McCartin) on Saturday 20th and CD  launch-  Concert tickets reserved by e-mailing garadiceconcertcavan@gmail.com  
  • International Ed Reavy Fiddle Player Competition on SATURDAY afternoon 20th with over €2,000 in prizes
  • Three Set Dancing Ceilis and various Sean Nós & Set Dancing Workshops in The Backyard Arts & Cultural Centre, Moynehall, Cavan
  • Music, Singing and Comhrá Workshops over the weekend in Cavan Crystal and many sessions in Cavan Crystal and The Meadow view Bar & Restaurant
  • Historical exhibition and a lecture on Reavy music with a number of selected guest speakers who will each play their "Favourite Reavy Tune" in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Saturday
