UNESCO Geopark Events in September 2019

The UNESCO Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark in Cavan and Fermanagh is is home to some of the world’s most spectacular and geologically significant landscapes. A programme of exciting and events takes place throughout the year allowing you to engage with the Geopark. Join Geopark guides as they explore and uncover some of the marvels and mysteries of these wonderful landscapes. Most events are free and everybody is welcome!

Date: Sunday 8th September

Geopark Gourmet Tour Time: 9.30am Meet at Market House, Blacklion.                                                          

Enjoy the Unique Taste of the Geopark. Tour the Marble Arch Caves, enjoy lunch in the awarding winning Olde Post Inn in Cloverhill, followed by a guided boat tour of Lough Oughter and a visit to Cloughoughter castle. Saturday 14th September (European Heritage Open Day)

Jewels of the Geopark Bus Tour         (Through Irish)    

Time: 10am - 3pm Enjoy a bus tour of the Geopark, to include a visit to Cavan Burren Park, Blacklion Market House, Cladagh Glen and Killykeegan National Nature Reserve. This event is free however booking is essential by clicking here.

Fermanagh Folk Tales. A free event taking place at Cladagh Glen/ Marble Arch National Nature Reserve. No booking necessary. Time: 1 -1.30pm & 2.30 - 3pm .

National Heritage Bilingual Tour. Time: 10.30 - 11.15am & 12noon - 12.45pm  Meet at Killykeegan National Nature Reserve near the Marble Arch Caves.  Enjoy a free tour of the National Nature Reserve. No booking necessary.

Sunday 15th September

Jewels of the Geopark Bus Tour  (English)    Time: 10am - 3pm. Enjoy a bus tour of the Geopark, which will include a visit to Cavan Burren Park, Market House, Cladagh Glen and Killykeegan National Nature Reserve. This event is free however booking is essential, by clicking here.

Sunday 22nd September

Autumn Equinox Walk . Time: 1.45pm . Meet at the Interpretative Centre, Cavan Burren Park, Blacklion www.cavanburrenpark.ie  Enjoy a free guided walk through the the Cavan Burren Park. Booking is advised. Contact local Geopark Office +353 (0) 49 9526121

Sunday 27th September

Aghameelan Viewpoint, Lough Navar Forest   Time: 8pm - 10pm  Join Geopark and Irish Astronomical Association staff as we explore the fascinating Dark Skies surrounding Lough Navar Forest.
